As we are all too aware, the end of a year rushes to a close with “so much to do, so little time”.
PPB Technology and the CYBERTONGUE® had an excellent end to the calendar year and 2026 is already presenting some very exciting events. We look forward to what the rest of the year brings!
CSIRO ON INNOVATION PROGRAM CASE STUDY:
Late last year we were featured on the CSIRO website as part of their ON Innovation program case studies.

FOURTH PATENT GRANTED IN THE US:
In the last quarter of 2025, we learnt that our fourth patent has been granted in the USA. This was the last of our CSIRO-invented patents (now assigned to PPB Technology).
But what exactly is the significance of this US patent grant for PPB Technology?
This patent is arguably our most exciting patent to date. It discloses how to adapt the CYBERTONGUE® system to immunoassays. With the disclosed molecules and systems it is possible to measure the level of any analyte for which a good antibody exists.
Using this invention, we can now combine the accuracy and sensitivity of an ELISA with the speed and convenience of a lateral flow test.
And we can do this in complex food matrices.
2025 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:
Just one month ago we hosted our Annual General Meeting for 2025.
Our AGM is always a welcome event for reflecting on the past year, what we’ve achieved; both against our goals, and previously unexpected growth and development, and to revise and define our company objectives as we look towards the next year.
It is also a great opportunity for us to touch base with our investors in-person and share our accomplishments, what we’re excited about for the future and to receive feedback. We are already looking forward to next year’s update!
2025 CBRIN INNOVATION SHOWCASE:
It was an honour to once again take part in the Canberra Innovation Network (CBRIN)’s Innovation Showcase for 2025, having previously been involved in 2023 and 2021.
The whole event was a huge success, as all CBRIN events are, and we were in great company as part of the Transformative Tech session alongside six groundbreaking ventures from our region that are reshaping industries and solving real work challenges:
– Terria.io reveals how digital twins are changing the physical world.
– MTE is filtering metals using molecules from plants.
– UC Collaborative Robotics Lab explores surprising ways that robots are revolutionising the world.
– Viortec shows how engineers and surgeons are working together for better knees.
– Zendir is digitising space as the industry takes off.
– Meos Labs demonstrates how AI tools can revolutionise your life.
ANU AGRIFOOD INNOVATION INSTITUTE SEMINAR – START UP JOURNEY: FROM RESEARCH TO BUSINESS:
In November, The Agrifood Innovation Institute (AFII) hosted a panel discussion featuring businesses in the Agrifood Hub that have successfully transitioned from research to business.
As always we were appreciative to take part. Dr Stephen Trowell joined panel and AFII members Dr Debbie Saunders, Pablo Rozas Larraondo, Andrew Horsley and Danielle Neale in sharing their insights into building a start-up from the research stages to a successful and growing business.
2025 INNOVATIONAUS AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE:
Just over a month ago we were proud to represent PPB Technology and CYBERTONGUE® at the 2025 InnovationAus Awards for Excellence as a finalist in the “Food and Agritech” category and shortlisted for the People’s Choice Award which is chosen by InnovationAus readers.
It was an honour to be in a room filled with so many impressive and inspiring Australian innovators, and we were greatly pleased to be able to share this night with representatives from some of our excellent collaborative partners; Entech Electronics and SDR Scientific.
