EMPLOYEE MILESTONES AND PPB TECH MILESTONES:

Last month we celebrated the one year work anniversary of our most recent hire, Laura.

Sometimes in a start up, you can’t always predict what exactly what you need in a new employee. When we started our most recent hiring process we knew what we were looking for in a new employee at that point in time, but it’s hard to know what a start-up company and team will need 3 months down the road, let alone 12 months later. The job description we hired Laura for, is not what their primary focus has become over time. Although they still perform these duties, we never could have imagined that Laura would become our go-to device person who we can safely say knows the CYBERTONGUE® better than anyone else in the world.

Laura puts every new device through a rigorous QC and standardisation process before it is released for customer use. So when you receive your CYBERTONGUE®, it will be everything you hoped for – and more – thanks to Laura! Over the past year, Laura has driven continuous improvement in PPB Tech’s own QC and standardisation processes to ensure that our customers’ QC will get easier and better. And we’re looking forward to Laura further extending our leading position in the coming 12 months.

We have learnt a lot about the start up hiring process in the past year, and as we look to expand our team again in the not too distant future, we have a better understanding of what we will be looking for in our next candidates.

AGRIFOOD INNOVATION INSTITUTE ARTICLE:

As shared in this recent Agrifood Innovation Institute LinkedIn post “Six years ago, Dr Stephen Trowell had little more than a pot plant and an idea. Today, PPB Technology Pty Ltd is a growing Australian deep-tech company with customers across eight countries and a global footprint spanning North America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, Central Asia and India.”

And while the CYBERTONGUE® journey started at Australia’s national science research agency, CSIRO, we wouldn’t be where we are without the support of the ANU and the Agrifood Innovation Institute (AFII) where we have grown from a single office in the AFII Hub, into a globally active business delivering world class solutions for industry, sustainability and food security.

A start-up’s success, as with many new companies, relies on more than just an industry-revolutionising product (we have one of those) or an amazing team (we also have one of those); success requires an amazing support network and the AFII team have been one of our biggest advocates and a valuable member of our support network, hosting our local admin and sales team since the beginning.

FOODPRO 2026:

Once every three years one of the biggest industry trade shows takes place, and this year we were delighted to be able to take part.

Foodpro is the ultimate beginning-to-end trade show, bringing together the food and beverage innovations shaping the future of food processing, packaging and manufacturing.

At PPB Technology, we aim to make CYBERTONGUE® Technology a reliable and integral part of the food and beverage production and quality process, so when we were offered the opportunity to be hosted at the event by FMCG IS, it was a no-brainer.

Of course, new technologies and solutions are important and we are incredibly passionate about them, but just as important to us are relationships with other suppliers in the industry; building new connections and strengthening existing ones.

We believe in collaboration over competition and we see our industry supplier counterparts as f&b quality assurance teammates; helping our customers achieve their goals to provide the safest and most reliable products possible.

PPB Technology will have representatives at a variety of events through the remainder of the year. Next week our CEO, Dr Stephen Trowell, will be in Mumbai with the ANU as part of their India-Australia Biotechnology Networking Week. He is looking forward to meeting with biotech industry connections in both business and policy in a country where we endeavour to build on our already strong working relationship within the food industry.

Also in the PPB Tech calendar next week, ANU students interested in a career in agriculture can find PPB Tech representatives at the university’s Cultivate your Career Expo running from 1:30-4:30 Tuesday 1st September. The following day we will also be in attendance at the monthly networking event First Wednesday Connect.

Additionally, we have visits planned to new and existing international markets and have some international conferences on our list. And back in Canberra, you can generally find one of our team members at CbrIN events like First Wednesday Connect and as always, we also plan to attend the Innovation Showcase later this year.

CAPITAL RAISE – INVEST IN THE FUTURE OF AUSTRALIAN DEEP TECH MANUFACTURING:

Our latest capital raise round is open and with revenue doubling year on year and a strong and a growing intellectual property portfolio, PPB Tech is in an exciting position. We are raising to fund production growth and operational excellence as our sales and manufacture accelerates and our global device network expands. Please note though, that we are open to institutional and professional investors only. Under Australian law, we are unable to accept retail investment at this time. (In the case of a future IPO, that would change).

However, don’t be disheartened – even if you’re unable to invest with us at this stage, there are plenty of meaningful ways you can support PPB Technology and what we can do for the food & beverage industry and beyond.
