Things may appear quiet on the #CYBERTONGUE® front, but things are not always as they seem!
May was an incredibly busy month for the PPB Technology team. There has been a lot of preliminary ground work going on behind the scenes in the past few weeks and we are looking forward to sharing the results of all of these projects with everyone as soon as possible, so watch this space.

DIAA Victoria Branch Conference:
Late last month, our Chief Operating Officer, Dr Rym Kachouri and our CAO & Supply Chain Manager, Jess Kelly, represented PPB Technology at the 2025 Dairy Industry Association of Australia’s (DIAA) Annual Victorian Branch Conference held at the Flemington Racecourse.
We had our Cybertongue® on display and provided on-site demonstrations of our test for the bacterial protease AprX throughout the event.
As always, there was an amazing line-up of presenters throughout the two day conference. PPB Technology were able to meet with a dairy industry professionals from across the state to discuss their quality management needs and learn more about how Cybertongue Technology can continue to provide support to the industry. There is on-going and growing interest in how the AprX test can be used throughout the dairy supply chain to trace biofilms.

For the second year running, PPB Technology sponsored the award for Highest Scoring UHT Milk which was won by Lactalis Australia for their Paul’s Full Cream Milk Longlife.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
In just under a month’s time, Dr Stephen Trowell will be in attendance and presenting at the 2025 Singapore National Biofilm Consortium (SNBC). Our Founder was invited to present at a half-day workshop during the event “Decoding Food Spoilage: the food microbiome, biofilms, and solutions”.
Stephen presentation is titled “Pseudomonas Biofilms in The Milk Supply Chain and Beyond” and will discuss how bacterial proteases, primarily from Pseudomonas spp., can severely damage the quality of raw milk. This has downstream impacts on UHT milk and cheese, a combined USD$ 350 Billion segment.
In 2022, Dr Stephanie Gieschler showed for the first time that biofilms on dairy farms are leaching high levels of protease into raw milk. We developed the first rapid test to detect these point sources throughout the dairy supply chain. This enables a paradigm shift in the management of the quality of dairy products and is a precedent for how to track biofilms in other food supply chains.
